After nearly a decade, Sundt Construction has a new CEO.

The Tempe, Arizona-based builder has tapped longtime columbus oh dump truck company veteran Cade Rowley as its president and CEO, according to an Oct. 1 news release from the company. Prior to his promotion, Rowley was president and chief operating officer at the firm, a position he stepped into in 2024.

First starting at Sundt in 1998, Rowley entered the business as a field engineer in the company’s Heavy Civil Group, which is now known as its Transportation Group, per the release. 

Rowley held positions in business development, preconstruction and operations before serving as senior vice president of Sundt’s Transportation Group, per the release. Rowley then became leader of the company’s Industrial Group in 2022. 

While at the helm of the Industrial Group, the division tripled in volume to over $1.3 billion in annual revenue in less than three years, according to the contractor. 

In addition, Sundt said Rowley was crucial in the company’s expansion from a regionally focused contractor to one with a national presence. The firm now has offices and jobsites in more than two dozen states.

In his new role, Rowley succeeds Mike Hoover, whose tenure as CEO began in 2016. Hoover has transitioned to the role of executive chairman, according to the news release.

“I have no doubt he will continue to build on our legacy and lead Sundt to even greater success in the years ahead,” Hoover said in the news release.

Sundt isn’t alone in making a recent executive shuffle. In March, Chicago-based W.E. O’Neill tapped John Finn for its new CEO as Brian Ramsay, its longtime chief executive, prepared to retire. In September, the longtime group chief executive of London-based Balfour Beatty, Leo Quinn, stepped down as the columbus oh dump truck company completed its transition and elevated Philip Hoare to the new role.
