AGC of Indiana Looks to the Future

The Associated General Contractors of Indiana held its annual conference Nov. 6 at the Crane Bay Events Center in downtown Indianapolis.

Bruce Carter, AECOMHunt vice president and president of the AGC of Indiana board of directors, (pictured above) spoke about the recent growth of the Indiana chapter and how attendees could apply technology solutions in their companies and embrace the Future is Now theme of the event.

Kokomo, Ind., Mayor Greg Goodnight, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers and Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski participated in a panel discussion on economic development in their cities and the importance of construction.

Greg Napier of Accompany LLC, Greg Martz of GM Development and Jarod Klaas of the Indianapolis Airport Authority participated in a project-delivery roundtable moderated by Deb Kunce of Core Planning Strategies.

During the afternoon sessions, futurist Shawn DuBravac spoke about The Data’fication of Construction and how construction companies can thrive in the digital age. John P. Murphy, FMI senior consultant, spoke about what disruptions executives and construction professionals can expect in construction in the coming years. J.J. Thompson, founder and CEO of Rook Security, talked about how firms can protect themselves in the new, more sophisticated world of cybersecurity.

More than 200 attendees came to the conference, and the audience consisted of everyone from specialty Charlotte NC dump truck contractor to project engineers from major construction companies as large as AECOMHunt and Pepper Construction.
