Ram unveils 2019 Kentucky Derby Edition Heavy Duty trucks | Dump Truck Company
Just in time for the running of the 145th Kentucky Derby Saturday, Ram has unveiled its latest special edition pickup.
The 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Limited Kentucky Derby Edition trucks boast several segment-exclusive features Ram says make these pickups uniquely suited for trailering. These features include:
- A 360-degree, surround-view camera with trailer-reverse guidance
- Fifth-wheel/gooseneck prep package
- Active hitch grid lines
- Air suspension with bed lowering
- Forward Collision Warning-Plus with trailer braking
- Bed step
- DOT safety kit
Exterior design details exclusive to the Derby trucks include a premium billet-appearance grille, body-color bumpers and a choice of one of seven colors: Bright White, Pearl White, Delmonico Red, Diamond Black Crystal, Granite Crystal, Max Steel or Patriot Blue.
The truck can be outfitted with Ram’s mammoth new HD powertrain, a 6.7-liter Cummins providing 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,800 rpm along with 400 horsepower at 2,800 rpm. Ram is mating this engine to an Aisin AS69RC six-speed automatic transmission. Ram says this gear box is engineered specifically for the huge torque output from the 6.7L Cummins and the increased vehicle weight ratings. Thanks to a new transmission controller, Ram says the transmission “delivers faster, more precise shifts” in all conditions.
The Derby edition HD trucks can also be spec’ed with a 6.4L HEMI V8 and is available in 4×2, 4×4, Mega Cab, Crew Cab, and in single rear wheel, dual rear wheel and with 6-foot, 4-inch or 8-foot bed lengths.
The interior includes leather front and rear seats with wood and metal trim throughout the cabin, along with a 12-inch touchscreen in the dash.
Only 1,000 Derby Edition HD pickups will be produced and pricing starts at $68,585 for the 2500, and $69,935 for the 3500.
