ACI, ASCC announce publication of 4th edition of Guide to Quality Concrete Construction | Dump Truck Company
The American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) announced the publication of the fourth edition of the Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction.
The guide includes proven practices and planning for quality, concrete mixtures, specifications, foundations, formwork, reinforcement and embedments in structures, joints and reinforcement for slabs-on-ground, preparing for concreting, concrete placing and finishing, common field problems, safety, and legal issues.
“The new guide is the ultimate concrete construction resource,” says ACI managing director of engineering and professional development Michael Tholen in a press release. “The extensive coverage of construction topics makes this an invaluable document for concrete contractors, ready-mix producers, testing technicians, specifiers, engineers, and other concrete industry professionals.”
The 262-page guide includes full-color photos and illustrations, a new, easier-to-read layout, and substantial content updates, as well as 43 Position Statements from ASCC, details on ACI Certification programs, and an appendix introducing several legal issues of interest to concrete contractors. A summary, review questions, and additional recommended reading list accompany each of the 12 chapters.
“The Contractor’s Guide to Quality Concrete Construction has been a staple for ASCC members since the first edition was published in 1992,” says ASCC Executive Director Bev Garnant in the press release. “It’s an excellent overview of the basic components of building with concrete; invaluable to contractors, but also a great reference for anyone involved in this industry.”
The guide is intended for all levels of experience and is available in both printed and digital format for $89; ACI and ASCC members will receive a member discount. A Spanish version is expected to follow.
