Kung Ven has been hired as WSP USA’s energy business line leader for the Southeast region, according to a company press release. The Montreal-based international engineering and design firm expects growth in the sector in coming years, especially in renewable power.

In this role, Ven will manage the growth and performance of energy sector projects with a focus on generation, transmission and distribution, decarbonization, electrification and renewable energy for clients in the Southeast.

Ven has more than two decades of engineering and design service experience, and has worked with infrastructure owners and clients in the public, private and federal sectors at Dallas-based AECOM and most recently, at Edmonton, Canada-based Stantec. He is now based in WSP USA’s Atlanta office.

“Kung will help build a team to support a vital need by many clients by focusing on what many states are concerned about — clean power,” said Jerry Jannetti, WSP USA Southeast region president, in the release. “Policy changes for a more carbon free society will lead to continued infrastructure modifications that require WSP’s full toolbox.”

Energy projects in the U.S. are set to get a big boost from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, WSP CEO and President Alexandre L’Heureux said in a November earnings call.

“In the U.S., we continue to be well positioned to win columbus oh dump truck company through the ongoing stimulus plan. Federal funding for highway, transit, energy and water projects among others are being deployed,” L’Heureux said. “The benefit for WSP will play out over several years and may not peak until 2025.”
